I have a number of sites on StatCounter and i sometimes like to veiw all my stats at the same time on different browser tabs in Firefox.
It's a browsing style that i have developed - read one page while others load in background - it saves me time. However sometimes things get confused and i get the wrong project open in the wrong window. Specific Eg: Initially i open up all the summary pages on tabs. I then go back to the first tab and tick the "Hide page loads" and reload the page. I then get one of my other projects from the other tabs opening as a "summary without pageloads". I see no project id info in the address line - so i'm not really sure how the request is being posted. |

Yeah it's because of the project id that is in your session - it is only designed for having one open at a time - but this isn't good enough - we'll be changing it to allow for multiple - stickying this until it's done.

Since my problem is very similar I'll add it to here.
I have all my statcounter pages in one bookmarks folder in firefox. I usually use the option "open in tabs" under that folder so that I get all stats loaded at once. Now when I view them all diagrams look exactly the same! After refreshing pages they look normal. |

Yes - i've noticed that this problem has returned again since the introduction of the new graphs. It only affects the graphs though and not the whole page.
Do you think it could be easily fixed...? |

It's been nearly a year since the first post in this thread. I really appreciate the service Statcounter provides, but I can't think of a good reason why such a bug should be allowed to exist this long after it's discovered. Doesn't seem like a good way to make happy customers (or encourage free users to upgrade). -Dan |

I guess this indicates that Firefox tabs, unlike separate browser windows, mean only one session cookie is being used and shared if you're browsing the same site in different tabs. It looks more like an unwanted "feature" of Firefox that doesn't segregate session cookies by tabs, than an actual bug in Statcounter.

Then I repeated the test in MSIE, with the same results. So it seems we can't blame it on Firefox, tabs or otherwise. -Dan |

Ok, fair enough. I've never deleted a project yet. But I sometimes open different parts of the stats in different IE windows and they've never crossed that I've noticed.

If I open the same statistics page for two projects in quick succession, they both show the same graph. The data in the table below is correct, but the image for one of the projects is wrong (it shows the other project's graph).
It seems that StatCounter (graph_summary_barchart.php?) is generating both graphs using the same temporary filename, in the same folder, and one is overwriting the other. I've noticed that a "random seed" value gets passed to this function, which I expect would be used to ensure different temporary file names, but it doesn't seem to be working. Here are two screen captures: http://dvd-hq.info/stuff/statcounter_bug/graphbug_A.gif http://dvd-hq.info/stuff/statcounter_bug/graphbug_B.gif P.S. - I searched for this and couldn't find it, then noticed it was in one of the stickies... http://forum.statcounter.com/vb/showthread.php?t=14904 So if one of the mods can merge this message into that thread, it's more evidence of the same bug. I reproduced it in Opera, too. The problem seems to be the one I described above (graph_summary_barchart.php, and possibly other graph-generating functions) is always using the same temporary file, even when two instances of it are running at the same time. Note that the bug isn't "when viewing multiple stats pages", as the thread title suggests. It's when seeing the same stats page for multiple projects.
