I'm just a bit unclear on something, so hopefully someone can add insight. I've just set up a new project and I'm seeing tons of referring links like this...
'http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CFcQ FjAA&url=http' ... About 80% of my traffic seems to be like that. It seems that it's traffic from a Google search, but why isn't the data providing me with a keyword? Some sort of block on the users end? Anyone? Thanks! |

Sigh. Thanks for the links.
I knew about the "not provided" issue, but not the new changes. Oh well, keeps me from micro managing my sites I guess. One more thing, though. I did read in the second link about the possibility of old/corrupted code. I have some sites that have code from 4 or 5 years ago. Is there any way for me to assess my code to make sure everything is as it should be? Thanks again... |

The funny part about it, is that the older code "project" works better than the newer code "project".

Hmm, guess I'll have to do some tinkering. I run both as well, but I've never really paid attention to whether one does better than the other.
Thanks again. |

For me at least, with the newer code, the exit-links and downloads don't show anything since about the end of January 2010, but the older code started recording downloads about the end of January 2010, the exit links didn't start until January 2011, so a gap between the two in exit links. So, looks like the exitlinks and downloads worked for a good while with the newer code, and then when they quit, the older code picked it up, less missing 2010 exit links.
I haven't really studied any of the other options enough to see differences. I just mainly like the downloads/exitlinks.

I think you need to keep one instance of the code - the latest one.
Otherwise not only will you record double hits for every real hit, but various bits of data won't get logged for one or the other instance.

For me, separate projects as recommended when the beta first started. Though now, the newer code isn't working properly, tho the older code does. I think ellerfredix is saying the same thing.
