Hello,
First let me say, I LOVE this counter and the stats... Bravo... it just keeps getting better. Now my problem. The counter displays perfectly in my IE, but I use an old version of Netscape to detect compatibilty issues on our site since about 30% of our viewers use VERY old versions of Netscape, schools, military etc. In the older versions of Netscape, I am using 4.0, the counter does not display... instead, I get a very BIG missing graphic box. VERY UGLY on the page. Any suggestions as to how to fix this. I tried an invisible counter which indeed is invisible in IE, but again in the old Netscape browsers, it's just the BIG missing graphic box. I really do want the counter to display, and not use some invisible solution. I also need the full stats like I currently have, not just the counter. Please help as this is VERY UGLY!! If you need to look at how it is coded on my page, see http://www.ussarizona.org Thanks. |

Hi,
You have one great website there. Looks like you put an awful lot of time in it. it is extremely well laid out, and I can see why you wouldn't want it to look ugly. The counter looks perfect in my MSIE/opera and netscape 4.6 I don't know what version of netscape you are using, but I'm afraid it's just a problem with your browser. The code is very standard and should not appear ugly, there is nothing we can do about that. But I would recommend giving out to netscape for unleashing such a catastrophe onto the net. If there is anything else I can do let me know, and post a screen shot to show what it looks like. |

Thanks for your quick reply.... another BIG plus for your service is the great support!!
Thanks for your compliments... it means a great deal when people enjoy our site. I am using Netscape 4.02 to check the site with. I use this VERY old one because we have a large group of people on Netscape 3!!! I don't know why schools don't update their browsers, it's free, but they just don't do it, so to try and stay compatible I build like it's 5 years ago! Here is the screenshot of the problem in Netscape. If it is just a browser setting, any idea what I need to change? ![]() I am changing the opening page on our site to this http://69.94.16.23/index.html and this problem really hurts the look of this new format as you can see from the screenshot below. ![]() In this case, the text and counter are black (inside pages need the black text), so on this page in IE the counter doesn't show, but in Netscape, it still has the UGLY box. Thanks for any help you can give on this. |

Hi again....
I moved the counter from the bottom to the top... http://www.ussarizona.org/counter-test.html ![]() I also took it out of the table as it is above (just in case the table was the problem) and still the same result. http://www.ussarizona.org/counter-test2.html ![]() Sorry to be such a pest. Thanks again. I thought I should explain why this is a problem other than the way it looks. Because this is a non-profit website, we are not allowed to advertise. The way the graphic missing box displays in the old Netscape, it looks like an advertisement. We are a little worried about this since the main users of Netscape 3 and 4 tend to be military and schools. We don't want it to appear we are advertising something (even though your service is great). Otherwise, this really wouldn't be that big of a problem, just and ugly problem for some of our viewers. |

Don't worry. You're not a pest. But I'm not sure what else I can do.
It's a problem with an old, old version of netscape. I think it is because netscape didn't support PNG image formats back that long ago? How about moving the counter to the very bottom of the page, and just putting a little note saying this a non-profit counter providing free stats to our non-profit website? Lots of non-profit websites out there, use counters that are BLATANT ugly advertising to all their users. with banners and pop ups and the rest. Not sure what else to say. |

Hi and thanks for trying.
I have had some of those counters in the past, Bravenet for one, with the ads and popups and all sorts of annoyances. I am grateful that you don't have all of that garbarge and just offer a GREAT counter and stats. I guess I should add something to the site about updating browsers. Thanks again. |
