hey there-
when i originally organized my project i chose an option to hide my ip address from my stats so that it would not balloon them. in other words, when i log into my blog and write for twenty minutes, that visit should not be part of my stats. but over the past couple of months, my ip address shows up everytime. any help? |

Myybe your IP address has been changed since you last set it.
Or if you instead opted for the blocking cookie, that may have been deleted by various programs (anti-spyware, resetting Internet options and permissions, etc.).

When I go to the page where you can opt to set the cookie it says that my visits are not being logged, yet I can clearly see my visits being logged (because I know the IP address).
I exported the cookies to a text file and found the following 'statcounter' cookies. I suspect that some developer can look at these and see what the problem really is. my.statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1138493057 phpbb2mysql_data a%3A2%3A%7Bs%3A11%3A%22autologinid%22%3Bs%3A32%3A% 22b5391d6ddad279d1a18eeb53836a3744%22%3Bs%3A6%3A%2 2userid%22%3Bi%3A3059%3B%7D statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1263322246 session_460938 1105278703%262 statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1264637059 session_204609 1106593516%264 statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1263322268 login davidascher%26b5391d6ddad279d1a18eeb53836a3744 statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1263322524 blocking_460938 1 statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1264299010 session_331813 1106255467%261 statcounter.com TRUE / FALSE 1264636849 session_247137 1106593306%260 |

there is another computer on the same connection --- I'll have to check more closely to see if the hits are coming from that system instead.
thanks |

I got mine set on not couting my visits, but a lot of the time I find it a bit useless. Because my IP address keeps changing every now and then, and sometimes more than one time in the same week. So I have to update this information sometimes several times a week. I got 4 projects under my user ID. The thing is, most of the time the first 8 numbers in my IP address are the same and most of the time only the last 2 or 3 numbers change. Is there a way that I could set this on like "000.000.00.**", like it would exclude IP addresses that starts with "000.000.00.", but the last numbers could be different. If you understand what I mean, I don't know how to explain it.

the cookie goes with the machine regardless of what IP address you are using at the moment.
