Email when particular IP address visits?

Would it be possible to get an email when a particular IP hits my site? Or even better let us specifiy a search string and whenever that is found in the DNS name for the current IP an email report is sent?...

I know this is probably unlikely, but it would be a _great_ feature...

Does your hosting support php? Then you can just do this yourself with an easy script.

Otherwise I'm afraid it could nor be in the realm of a stats counter. Other similar services maybe.

Although if you think of it, would you want to have an email for each page a certain visitor has visited or refreshed on your site? You may end up with dozens of emails just from one visitor. Quite possibly you'd be spamming yourself.

We're about to get Broadband so I could even put a link to something on my own server from all my pages and then examine my own logs. This was the original plan - use my own server here and analyse the logs to my hearts content, but statcounter seems to have done _almost_ everything I could need :)

Scary thought. Then I'd have to shoot myself. Mine is a pretty low volume site / one man business / 100 hits a day, so it wouldn't be a massive issue assuming I could switch it off and on at will.
