I've entered my IP address in Statcounter, I've set my browser (Safari, OSX) to only recognize cookies from sites I've browsed to, and Statcounter STILL counts every visit I make to my page. Support answers:
"How do you make sure that 'you' are NOT counted by Statcounter (MSIE Browser 6.0) ?" but doesn't tell Mac users how to do the same. Any ideas? JB Last edited by Arne; 12-27-2010 at 08:33 AM. |

Incidentally the cookie to allow will be set by your website not Statcounter.

Yeah, Safari only offers cookies for (1) always, (2) never, (3) only sites you navigate to. I've got (3) checked off, but was wondering if there was some different function, or if this is a Statcounter-side problem.
If my IP is entered what more can I do so that my visits don't count? As far as I know, my IP number does not change like in some other browsers. |

I'm not sure what you mean by this -- do I need to change a setting with my server? |

What I'm saying is if you're telling your browser to acept cookies from Satcounter that's fine for the forum or the amdin pages, but you must accept cookies from your own site for the counter not to count you.

support hooked me up, i hadn't seen this option before and it worked:
Blocking via cookie:- 1. Login to your account 2. Click the "installation and configuration" icon next to your project 3. Click the "create blocking cookie" link 4. Click the button to create a blocking cookie. Note: When you log out of your account this blocking cookie is also destroyed, so don't log out of your account if you want to keep on blocking your visits. Note: Sometimes this doesn't work depending on your browser, one tip that does seem to work for some members who are having trouble is to click the button a couple of times. It seems to clear up something on their computer. |
