I keep finding people logging on but have no idea where they came from (keywords or links from anywhere). Their Java is enabled. Besides that (see below), someone from the National Park Service logged on and it states they're from Washington, DC. The IP traces to Denver, CO. and the contact person is also in Denver (in the phone book). I cannot find that name anywhere in Washington, DC. Is this IP actually in Denver or in DC? Anyone?
Thank you in advance. You wouldn't get a referrer if the user typed in your site's domain name, if they clicked on a link in an email, or if your site attracts a high proportion of folks who use some kind of cloaking algorithm. If the last case is true, then you might want to reconsider using a counter since those folks are likely to frown upon such things in any situation.
It's not surprising to see a Parks Service domain registered to a Denver address since there are many federal offices there, probably including many for the Parks Service. Where is that person, really? It's probably impossible to tell. They might even be at an office in Yosemite. I, for instance, see several hits per month from .mil addresses that I'm pretty sure come from a civilian Seattle office, but those IP addresses are registered as Porland, OR addresses. |
