Default Google dropped me like a hot potato

I'm probably the 10 millionth person to ask this, but in the last few days my Google rankings have dropped like a rock. I used to be within the first half-dozen or so for "used books winnipeg", "used bookstores winnipeg", "books winnipeg", even in the first couple of dozen for "books canada". Now I'm not even in the first hundred for most of those. My site is members.shaw.ca/Aqua_Books. Does anyone have any idea what happened to me? I guess it's re-indexing, but can I fix it? Thanks.

No idea, but you should really get a domain. Yours is not a hobby site, you deserve one.

aquabooks.ca also redirects to my site. Does it make a difference as far as Google is concerned?

Redirections aren't good. Bots get confused, they may not follow.

You should then get proper hosting so that you can point your domain to name servers (I assume AShaw doesn't provide name servers) and get rid of your ISP hosting and of the redirection.

It's hard to say why they would drop you down like that without knowing more, but it might have something to do with the redirect. You have cpanel on aquabooks.com you should log into that and look at your web site stats to see if you are using 302 redirects. Supposedly, that's one way to get on google's bad side.

aquabppks.com is not the same site - it's aquabooks.ca redirecting to an isp hosting space.

Wait a second. All Google page ranks have vanished, for all sites.
It must be a glitch in theri system, don't fret.

Not only this, but Google is still in the midst of the Bourbon update. Authority sites have been dropping left right and center over on WebMaster world. They've have to split the thread up, I think it's over 120 pages now.

Interesting point. Wonder if it is that essential nowadays with the power of Google and other search engines. Was going down this track, registered the domain name (if only to protect it) and stopped at that point.

It seemed that all that mattered were finding our provider hosted free web site, and we don't need more than 10MB at this stage. In fact, some of the obscure search words seemed to work to a point I find quite amazing, including International visitors (first time I saw it in Spanish from a Google search was a buzz!).

Would it be cost effective to make the change - I wonder. Specialised market, readily differentiated in key words and content. As a business decision as opposed to an ego thing? I dunno
