I'm a new user and finding the facility very useful but there's one thing that would make StatCounter perfect for us and that's to know if the visitor has Flash installed.

It's been discussed before.
It would be a time consuming action to find out on each and every pageload if flash is installed. It's counter productive to probe for that every time and it will slow things down a lot. You on the other hand can use your own flash detection scripts at the entry point of your website to determine this and decide what to do about it: offer a flash version of the web site or web page or not.

Thank you Christina.
I did do a search on "Flash" before I posted but nothing relevant was obvious. I would like to turn your suggestion on it's head and instead serve an identical html page whilst it was established if the user had Flash and, if they did, load the Flash page in the background; but I've no idea how to go about this and I guess this is the wrong forum for such a discussion Kind regards Mike |
