When I load my site www.almacinnes.com on Explorer on a dial-up connection, "Statcounter - Free Webcounter and Tracker" appears in blue writing up the top left, for the short time the 'invisible' counter loads.
I noticed that consecutive visitors stayed for 0 seconds, and wonder if that writing could be putting them off, or could some software they all have installed register Statcounter then block my site or something? I'm very happy with Statcounter otherwise but is there any way to make its presence completely invisible on my site? |

Hi! I am having the same trouble...only sometimes it ISN'T visible and sometimes it is. When it does appear, it is an embossed area the size of what the counter would be if I had selected one of them. My background texture still appears fine, only with this embossed area over it. Inside the embossed area is the ALT tag from the statcounter code with the little red "x" that tells the world an image should be here.
Now, I have NOT changed any code from one occurence to the next and I have the counter code placed just above my </body> tags at the very end, still with varying results. I have several websites I have built for other folks and they want it "completely" invisible, everytime. Several of my sites using Statcounter (always located in the bottom left corner of the page - WHEN it appears) are: www.kslonghorns.com www.longhornsalepen.com www.kirkhamlonghorns.com www.foristerlonghorns.com ANY help you all can give would be GREATLY appreciated!! This inconsistency really has me baffled. |

It will be due to delays in accessing the Statcounter server where the script is located. Until it responds you will see just the alt tag.
If your counter is meant to be invisible at all times on all your pages,do this: 1) configure counter to visible (temporarily) 2) generate the counter code using the invisible option and insert this code everywhere 3) go back and configure the counter as invisible. 0-second visits are usually due to only one page being visited with no subsequent page that carries the counter. The visit length is really theh time difference between the frist entry moment and the last entry moment to any pages that carry the counter on them. So in fact the last page to be visited doesn't have a visit length as it's impossible to determine.

Thanks so much for getting back so quickly! I love statcounter!!
I couldn't get your suggestions to work on the screens that came up. There was no "invisible" option on the page that gave me the code, just the configure screen. I must not have understood your directions. (I am technically challenged sometimes! Ha) Anyway, I continued to look through the forums... and after awhile, found a similar post you made back in May. You made the comment that the only thing different in the code was the "var sc_invisible=1;" at the end of the first part of the code...so I inserted that into my code and it solved the problem!! I copied and pasted that onto all my pages and it appears to be working great!! Thanks again for your help. Love the stats!! |

LOL! You achieved the same result using a shortcut. I gave directions to do it the "proper" way, to avoid messing up the code. But this is exactly what it dose anyway.
