Default Yahoo De-Indexed My Site

The recent Yahoo log change just delisted 99% of my site - left me with only the Table of Contents and an old redirect page. Over the last week a few pages have reappeared but way down the lsit

With Google and MSN I'm still 1st page for my main products.

Anyone cast any light on Yahoo's changes. Any advice on SEO changes for the new Yahoio would be welcome

Cheers

John Joe

You don't give enough information to even consider the problem. There are many reasons why a search engine may drop a site permanently or temporarily such as doing something the search engine is against or the search engine may just be doing maintenance and the effect is temporary.

If you want real help with a situation or want to help someone else you need to get in the habit of providing Links and accurate information. This is a pet peeve of mine and is why I have the statement in my signature of "Links and accurate information provide the best answer, while garbage in provides garbage out."

Chill out gentlemen, please. You are both right in your own ways.

Sometimes problems may happen for specific rasons, such as errors or a site. This when a link is helpful. Also seeing the site allows other so search and apply various tools to see the situation.

Your question is valid too as in whether there are specific events that may explain an otherwise unexplained dip in listings.

if that was the site yahoo still lists your pages, check for yourself

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=sit...aryplaques.com

Like i said depends on the keywords and if the bots liked you.

And it is possible to burn a site in a SE if one uses bad SEO tactics, though some search engines favor certain tactics. Example: link from guestbooks yahoo loves as msn os okay with them but google barely considers them.

All,

Apologies if my initial reply was a bit "gung ho" but we all have short fuses when it comes to certain people.

************

Hiwayracer - yes, that's the site. There's a one more relevent reason I tend not to mention my site on this site and other non-military sites - it has no relavancy to my site and non-relevent inbound links at the most do no good and at worst penalise you.

My query - though now a maybe moot point - is "We know Yahoo's log went thru a change - how's this effected people's rankings" Although all my pages are well "indexed" when you do a site query with Yahoo, only one page, The ToC, appears in the results

My keywords are dependent on the page, and I have varying key word densities and relevent text again dependent on the page - Check "military desk nameplate" on the 3 majors. Apart from normal updates and such nothing major happened on the site before, during or after the Yahoo log change.

I read a lot of the discussions on this and no one I've read has been able to put a finger on why Yahoo drops certain pages.

Cheers

John Joe

I've been following this post and just did some checking on yahoo. I don't see the problem. A search on site:www.militaryplaques.com returns 47 of your pages. A search on military desk plaque puts you at number 5. Is there something I'm missing?

John,

yes - 47 pages are listed, but if you do an actual search 90% of the results only return 1 page - the ToC. All those other pages have disappeared off the SE results pages. If I'd been sandboxed surely all the pages would dissappear from the results?

Cheers

I believe I was misunderstood. I was not upset or complaining or bothered by what you said and I am still not. I made the statement about my pet peeve only to explain my line in my signature and to point it out as a way of suggesting links should be used if detailed information is desired. If only general information is wanted then the post seemed way to broad and could have been answered in almost any fashion. I did read the post and have read it again and it is still my useless opinion that the post is too broad to receive a informative response. It also was not my intention to be negative but rather I was trying to be helpful.

PS IMHO calling names or being personally negative provides no useful information and helps no one.
