Hiya,
Just to clarify. Yes, I am a statcounter, and I've found it VERY useful in my work. Because of it I now take all sort of currencies on my site, as I found that I was having hits from all over the world.........I hear what you say about spam. This is a genuine message, that has only been posted here, because, as I say, this remedy is now in a new format, and I need to have it trialed. In the past I've used friends, clients and family but I thought, for a change, I'd use the statcounter forum, as you seemed a nice bunch of people, that had helpful solutions to others problems. I'm not having a 'problem' but I do need 7 people to take the remedy, and report back their findings. I do a lot of research and sometimes it's necessary to be open to a wider audience. Statcounter has members from all over the world, hence my post, so that I can have a variable response.
Homeopathy is a little difficult to explain in a few words and I tried to keep my posting friendly and to the point. If anyone has any further questions I'm only to happy to respond!
All the best
Mary

Ok, so your intention with your post was not spamming. But I do understand why "hiwayracer" believed it was spam (even if only posted here), as I also belived it was:

1. Your very first post in this forum
2. The subject you choosed (gives a "smell" of spam)
3. Even the way you writed the content "smells" spam
4. The site is really on http://uk.geocities.com/veryscarymary

Then there is #5 on my list. Three big images in the post, is not really nessecery and even annoying when the total size for them is approx. 175 kB. They where really not needed even if a small image in the sig don't hurt anybody. You have the same images on your site and you really should optimize them.

So, I don't blame "hiwayracer", not even now I understand what your "message" is about. But that can be because english is not my native language

Arne, I understand your concerns about "spam" and the format of people's messages here, but you are trying to turn this forum into some kind of "Police State" with your criticisms. I am sure that both Mary and Craig realise that they they were perhaps a little hasty in their postings (as I am too sometimes ). But for the last time, it is obvious that Mary is not some kind of hardcore spammer, she does not deserve to die, Craig has been a gentleman and apologized for his haste in posting, and we should now be extending the (metaphorical) hand of friendship to Mary as a new user of the forum!

She is not posting endless messages promoting ****ra / Gambling / whatever, she is just looking for a few people for a trial, Craig is a very helpful member of the forum who has been getting (justifiably) angry about the REAL spam that has appering in these forums of late, and I think that we should all just calm down and make Mary feel very welcome here now that the initial misunderstanding is out of the way.

Mary, I truly hope that this hasn't put you off from using the Statcounter forum, and I for one would like to offer you a warm welcome here. Arne, please "lighten up" with less experienced users of the forum, this is a "Lounge" section of a forum, not a Jakob Nielsen lecture on website usability! ... At the moment you are just scaring off new users with your ogreish ways!

Paul (www.zonicweb.net)

Mary,

Arne is right about your images though, they have much too large a filesize for your website, and they will take a lifetime to download if someone was using a slow connection. I could rectify this for you if you wanted? ... it would only take a minute!

Regards, Paul

Paul, I do understand she is not a spammer and I did not belived it when I wrote my post erlier. So I don't see my post as criticisms, only explaining why some of us get the impression. That explanation I hope can save her and others from getting accused as spammers when are not.

I only wish that I had remembered to wish Mary welcome to this forum to, now when we have sorted this out! I'll do it now and apologize if my previous post is taken as a criticisms. There is only nice persons around here, even if some of us over react from time to time for obvious reasons

Welcome Mary, to the forum!
