It's done. It turned out to be the longest post yet at 787 words. The post with the poem was longer, but that was just copying and pasting existing material. This was written from scratch. I have a feeling that it might get quite a few hits once the search engines pick it up. Interestingly enough, the post I made about Intelligent design doesn't show up in google, but later posts on katrina do. I'm still puzzling over that one.

Wonderful post, John. I'm sure you'll get more than a few hits on that, and maybe a few comments as well.
And that was fun to find out that I can actually use trackbacks even with Blogger. I'd always kind of ignored the things because I used to think we'd be moving to a new server and I'd then have reason to change to blogging host software. But that move isn't happening, so far. So I guess I should look into more of these add-on tools. If others who use Blogger are interested, you can link to a trackback url using this service. A method of using the service that is more elegant than the wizard is explained on this page. (See the section titled "Forret's free trackback tool".) |

Thanks for the trackback on that post. I've yet to understand this blog software completely. There is an input box for a trackback url when I make a post. I'm clear on what that is for. I'll have to spend some time reading the docs that came with it.
On another matter, the subject that I first posted this thread for has changed. That page now comes up #29 in google for 'relief housing'. It looks like google only gives you a high ranking for a couple of days. This makes sense for blogs. I now have had visitors for another search term that I just posted a day or 2 ago. 'I come up #10 for 'north shore animal'. Even more interesting is that my post comes up #21 for the full phrase 'north shore animal league'. I'm going to start monitoring my placement on a number of keywords to track what happens with each post. It should prove interesting and might serve as the subject of a post to the web dev section of the blog. |
