Are stats accurate only if addition log space is purchased?

No - the stat is based on whether there is a cookie on the visitor's PC showing that they have visited before.

If the cookie is there, they will show as a repeat visitor - even if 101, 1,001 or even 10,001 pageloads have been logged since then.

Cookies are unreliable, especially with all the new awareness of security and privacy. People's browsers either don't accept cookeis in the first place or delete them very frequently. Often they even have firewalls that block the referrer.

Nobody likes to be tracked. Everybody wants to track others with as much detail as possible. You see anything funny about this state of affairs?
