Default Error Executing Database Query

I am a newbie with StatCounter. I added the proper code to my home page and the same to another page of my website. When I check "popular pages", I am able to drill down my home page, but get "error exeucting database query" message when I drill down the 2nd page. Am I doing something wrong? Many thanks!

Eureka!!! I discovered my problem and perhaps it might help others in the future. You can not drill down to pages that have an apostrophe in the title. So I went into my site and changed pages that had an apostrophe in the title. Now all works like a charm!

Interesting. I'm not experiencing this myself. Are you sure your titles are correctly entered on your website? Namely are you using the proper apostrophe character or are you using a different character which looks like it? it all may depend on the charset encoding defined as well.

Because I have a whole website where every page has a title with an apostrophe and I have no problems of drilling down on that.

I'd recommend you run your pages through the W3 html validator.

Chris--

Thanks for your response. I believe I was using the proper apostrophe character (') for my titles affected. In any case, by removing them, all works fine now.

I ran my site thru W3 html validator per your suggestion and came up with quite a few errors. Unfortunately, correcting them is a bit above me in my limited knowledge. I created my site with FrontPage 2002 which, of course, is a WYSIWYG application. The site seems to work OK - what are the advantages of the corrections. Is there a source for learning what I need other than a 4-year tech course?

In any case, I appreciate your concern and look foward to using StatCounter (and will probably upgrade soon).

All I can say is reduce your dependency on the WYSIWYG editor. Start working in codeview mode (or html mode I think it's called in FP). Then you'd be able to relate to the errors better.

Every time you do something in FP, turn on the html mode and take a peep at what it did in the source code.

I won't recommend the W3C schools website because that's good as a reference only for somebody who's already got a good enough grasp of html.

I'd recommend www.htmlgoodies.com for tutorials.

Thanks again for your speedy repsonse and concern. The tutorial link site is terrific - now I just have to find the time to wade through it. Yes, it is about time I wean myself away from WYSIWYG

Another question: I just upgraded my account and understand that it is now possible for me to receive email reports. How do I set this up? I see nothing in "My Account" to do this.

Oh, you could get weekly email reports without upgrading.

When you look at My Projects yuo will see an icon for an envelope next to your prject name. Or when you are looking at particualr project's detials, you see that same icon on the top left of the screen. Click that to enable the email reports.

What you get is the summary report for the week just eneded. Normally on Monday morning.
