Default entry and exit pages

Hi,

I'm a little confused.

When looking at both entry and exit stats, I only have 6 and 2 visitors respectively.

Surely every visitor to my site enters from somewhere, and exits to somewhere?

Where are they all?

If someone enters directly at the domain by typing it in the address bar rather than linking, maybe this isn't recorded as a came from?

And if they exit by any other way other than clicking an external link on my site (i.e. close browser or type in new url into address bar), will these not be counted as exits?

Have i therefore answered my own question??!!

cheers

Exit link does not refer to the link clicked when leaving a site, but rather to the very last page on the site (which still has Statcounter code on it) visited lastly.

Entry page is the first page (that has Statcounter code on it) of a visit.

Hits recorded from javascript disabled visitors do not have url information of either page visted or referrer. Thus they do not show up in entry or exit pages.

Thanks Chrisooc,

so the reason why my number of visitors doesnt match with entries and exits is because the users have javascript disabled?

Cheers

Thats impossible. My entry and exit stats are also empty but that cant be because the visitors disable script. All my visitors allow script. Maybe they need to visit 2 of my pages to be counted in Entry and exit?

Anyone else with empty entry/exit stats?

Well, I have 26 entries and 14 exits. Based on a 100 hit log. No clues on how it works, you would think at least entries/exits would equal. Not much of a priority for me, I'm just tickled to get hits, lol.......

I have 27 entries and 19 exits. I guess those other 8 people are camping out somewhere on my site. Thought I smelled s'mores and heard folks singing "Kumbaya".

LOL!

It's designed so you don't get the same exact info in both stats if only one page is visited for a visit. That one page is either considered an entry page (with no exit) or it's an exit page (with no entry). Otherwise you'll have it in both stats.

Off the top of my head I can't tell which one it is - I can't access my stats from where I am.

Ahhh! That makes perfect sense. Thanks, Christina.
I'd never even paid attention before to exits and entries... so now I will continue not paying attention to them!

That's the spirit! You get the same stuff from drilling down on any IP address - the first and the last entries are exactly those things.

Visitors Paths - same thing. First and last entries.

It's all taken right from the Recent Pageloads - nothing more, nothing less.
