Default No Stats from Sweden?

J got a hit today from Sweden but dont ask me how, I got No STATS...and I mean NONE. I believe I got the Location and the IP address.

Is this because it's Sweden or what? Any explanation is appreciated.

If you got the hit recorded with IP and no url information at all, it's because it's a javascript disabled visitor.

All you will get is the IP and whatever can be found about the IP in the way of ISP and geo-location info.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I wasn't aware that disabling the java killed all but 1 or 2 little stats. In your experience do a lot of people do this? Javascript is important to have enabled for a whole host of reasons isn't it?

Many people disable javascript, just as they disable cookies. Javascript is sometimes reposnsible for lots of evils or annoyances like pop-ups and pop-unders - and the nastyness that we had in the forum a few days ago among others. Cookies get disabled, of course, because paradoxically most visitors don't want to be tracked, just as most webmasters want to track their visitors

But also robots are javascript disabled. They also are normally image disabled so you'd never see their traces in Statcounter, but some robots are in fact image enabled (the image bots that build indexes of images for instance), so those will trigger the <noscript> portion of the Statcounter code. You cannot distinguish them from humans except possibly if you see many hits from the same IP in rapid succession - bots are quick to go through a site, unlike people.

But without the javascript portion of the counter doing the logging, the only info you can get through the <noscript> portion is the time stamp, the IP address (which will resolve to ISP, city, region, country), browser and OS and nothing more.
