Default Monitor website activity with a tone

It would be great if statcounter could add a feature which would alert you with a tone or ping when someone entered your site. Is anything planned for that?

You'll want to add your own scripting for that. The only way any script could do it is to send an email actually. It wouldn't be feasible for Statcounter code to do that, the traffic is immense.

And who would not soon get annoyed after getting several mails every hour, with the same message: "You have a new visitor".

Attention! When reporting problems with your counter, please tell what
partition yours is on by looking at the code you inserted and you will see:
var sc_partition=xx; in the Javascript portion, where "xx" is the number.

sure, but the scripting has to have some more logic, cookies and whatnot to account for that and only send one email. Why I say use your own script for it.

Was thinking that maybe some p2p applet might interact unless all the security watchdogs have plugged all the holes making them ineffective.

liveperson.com has the facility of a tone every time someone looks on your site. No e-mails are sent. It is a very useful facility.

That's a chat room application itself, probably running either as a java applet or flash constantly refreshing.
