been studying htaccess today, also htpassword.....
so htaccess for today.... I studied the link's provided in the currently closed htaccess thread.... My take is that htaccess can be used in more than one directory/subdirectory. Probably the main question, is that can you have more than one set of directions in the htaccess file?????

You can put a .htaccess file in every directory. An alternative is to put everything in a main .htaccess file. This works fine if you have the proper paths. That puts all the security stuff in one place.
A .htaccess file works the same as a css file. The last rule takes precedence. So you could allow access to a folder in one command and change that at the end of the htaccess file. No action is taken until the whole file has been read. |
