Just when did Google build up 700 datacenters? Last I knew there were about 40 major ones and together with minor ones that was about 110 or so.

This is interesting.

I found a couple of those IP's reporting a lower PR than all the others so, curious as to what was what, I did 2 things:
1) visited those ip's . This resulted in a redirection to google.ca in my case, unlike other Google ips I use stadalone which stay put

2) ran whois.sc for one of those ip's:

For 59.151.21.100:
Quote:
inetnum: 59.151.20.0 - 59.151.21.255
netname: Google
descr: Google Information Technology (Shanghai) Co.
country: CN
Since I'd lost the other Ip that redirected to google.ca I reran the tool - and got a different set of IP's now. That tool seems to only test a sample of DC's - normal since otherwise it would be banned in a jiffy.

So I accidentally found that the notorious Google as used in China may in fact redirect to local Google DC's based on a visitor's IP address or stated locale. Maybe Google China accounts for that surge in Google DC IP's.

Interesting .....
