Default do you think this is worth putting on a site?

this is a plugoo, its a messenger chat box for a website to chat to visitors, and answer any questions they have, live.

the code below would be pasted on your site where you want the box to go, I was just wondering what you thought of this idea, is it a bit cheezy or a valuable asset to have on a website?

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="plugoo" data= "http://www.plugoo.com/plug.swf?go=XL1LR6XCI1F" width="160" height="300"> <param name="movie" value= "http://www.plugoo.com/plug.swf?go=XL1LR6XCI1F" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> </object>

have answered the question myself now. And the answer is NO! I should just leave it the way it is and stop messing around with it.

On some sites, perhaps.... sites of businesses that have a staff of people taking orders on internet and by phone all day and night, and have the chat available for customers to ask questions online about what to order (sizing, color charts, etc., for example.) For your site, I'd think it wouldn't be such a great idea, unless you want to have someone (you, maybe?) available to chat any hour of the day and night. I think you need to be busy making your beautiful glass creations, instead.

Make stained glass! Sheesh! That's your job

Get a skype button and install skype for yourself. When you have Skype open, that button will say so and anybody who wants to pester you can then use it. Otherwise it's off and so sorry, try another time.

I like the idea. The Plugoo website says you san set it to not available:
Quote:
Visitors on your webpage can see your status on your Plugoo : “online”, “busy” or “offline”.
When busy or offline:
Visitors can however send you a message if you want, as they can do it when your status is “busy”.
I wouldnt want it for my sites but if you're trying to sell something, its good to be available, or appear to be

As for Skype, I dont have it, dont want it, the shutters are down. But with plugoo the visitor doesnt have to have any software at all

I use Skype and I like it a lot. I use it mainly for the chat function rather than the phone function but its mighty easy to drop someone a note while youre working on computer and then a message pops up when they get back to you. Yes I know there are any number of instant messengers that do exactly the same thing, but it just feels a little more grown up somehow...

Cheers

I've got the BoldChat button on are site and I'm surprised how popular it is - and it can save mistake in ordering which take a lot longer to fix than the initial 2 minute chat. If you're going out you just set it to unavailable. It certainly can't do any harm
