Default Logos

I've seen a lot of sites recently that have their logos in the address bar and on tabs when you log onto them. I've searched high and low for the script but no luck. Can anyone enlighten me?

Tom.

Default logo in address bar

yes I can help, they are called fav icons, they are 32px x 32px here is a link to a fav icon creator you just create an image at 32px x 32px and save it as a gif, jpg, png, or bmp then go to this link and browse for the image, you can then download it, and then upload it to the root on your sites server. hey presto

There's a photoshop addin which lets you save the file directly as the favicon.ico file. I'll dig out the link if it's of interest.

If you google favicon.ico there's a lot of help available and some of it is useful.

They don't have to be favicon.ico, they can be animated gif files. I did some experiments with them a while ago. Gave up with the animated one for two reasons,

1 it began to annoy me,
2 someone (who shall remain nameless) gave me a much better one.

If awasp67 digs up that site, and it's the one I think it is, it's a good one if you already have your icon.

WOW! A whole message about favicons and I didn't mention the Goddess of all things "graphic design" once.

I hope you noticed the Sharron

Default Statcounter forum.

Just as an afterthought, and now i understand about favicons. Is there a reason I can't see the statcounter logo in the forum? Its on the main statcounter.com. Have I got a glitch, but i've tested it in IE7 and FF and its the same.
