Cloaking, hiding - anything involving affiliate links - that's no good from a search engine's point of view.

If you're asking then you already know the answer.

So not only shouldn't you cloak anyhting but you shouldn't have the need to cloak anything.

Default link cloaker

yes you should cloak your affiliate id to prevent others from replacing your affiliate id with theirs so they get the commision rather than you therefore a cloaking device is necessary.As to it's reliability and free tools i think it depends on where you get the free cloaker from

Explain a bit more, how and when are other affiliates going to replace your id with theirs?

I think it's a crock and unnecessary except to that site which must be collecting them in droves.

I went through the exercise and entered a phony domains and some kind of affiliate-looking id expecting to get back a "cloaked" url. Instead I am being sent to extra steps where I have to sign up and I can submit to this or that. Yep, I think now they are in posession of my "affiliate" link www.stuff.com?id=89676876 LOL whatever that may end up being

I still don't understand it. So now they have your "Afilliate number" what are they going to do with it? If they use it, it will be you that gets paid, not them.

Seems to me it's like someone finding out where you work, then sneaking in at night and doing your work for you!

I followed that link Christina, then looked at the source code!

This is something from it:

<!-- trafficclub.com -->
<!-- exec: 0.093690156936646 -->
<!-- domain: stuff.com -->
<!-- ip: 12.77.174.4 -->
<!-- fingerprint: 12212d135241ae9ebb6ff09a048dd194 -->
<!-- country: US -->
<!-- service: 12 -->
<!-- rand: 19/100 -->
<!-- count: 1/0 -->
<!-- -->

<!-- OK -->

Me thinks something odd there
