Default CAN I SAy yet again how much I dislike computers?

Gee I just figured out da why none of my wireless mouses will work on the newly repaired desktop! And it has only take me hours! Finally dawned on me to try the external usb Hard drive, the darn ole usb ports don't work!

I'm getting chills down my arms and back just thinking about what I'd like to do about it!

oh and that thought (s) are so what is the word I'm looking for rhymes with lethargic ? My brain is fried. That probably isn't even a word, or not the right word.

I what Lethargic means but that is not what I mean.

Given how often you say you dislike computers, how come you spend so much time using one? It must be a girl thing I guess ... like newly bought shoes that don't fit, frocks that "weren't that colour in the store", and weight that needs to be lost despite being so thin you have to run around in the shower to get wet.

ok, being a woman I didn't clarify to the ninth degree just exactly it is I dislike about computers!

I dislike them when they don't do (lol) what I want them too, when I want them too. I dislike them when I've got to go round and round to get something to work, that is supposed to work when I turn it on.

Now, as I said earlier somewhere else, I took this desktop back to the gentleman who built it for me. I brought it home after a week and just yesterday plugged it back in. yea it worked, until...

1. It loaded and had the 1440 x 900 screen resolution that I need for my new Dell flat panel monitor.

2. After windows did it's updates I no longer have the required 1440 x 900 resolution I need to be able to see the web clearly. yes I've updated the drivers, that I think is the problem. Yes I've gone to the graphics card website and looked for it. I downloaded it and yet that reso in not available.
yes, I've a request for help in with their support.

3. In an attempt to get rid of the wired trackball mouse I plugged in two of three different wireless mice. None worked even though they work on the laptop.

4. Tried to plug in the external usb HD, it didn't work either. Which I attributed to the fact that NOW none of the 4 usb ports work at all.

5. I found the motherboard drivers and re installed the usb drivers. Nothing

6. I went back and forth via device manager trying. It didn't even show a usb anything.

7. I wrote this I dislike computers thread. I went to bed late.

8. Got up with my coffee this am and started again over and over. Then had a brain storm.

9. Rebooted into cmos, got the motherboard book and found the Integrated Peripherals, OnChip USB Controller. Discovered it was All Disabled.

10. Made long distance phone call on my cell, ask the man who built it, "hey can and should I change that to display "All Enabled". The answer was yes.

11. Came back inside from a frustration break, enabled said controller. Rebooted. Ll and behold it found the hardware and the usb's now work.

Now, I still have to address the monitor resolution, re install all my programs. Find all the logon and password info for the 9 or so sites I need to setup via ws_ftp. Darn program doesn't have an export that info ability.

On a good note: My speakers now work. On a bad note: The computer builder man removed my zip drive and replace my hd with a smaller one I suspect.

And that kind sir, is not the half of it! lol

I think I was trying to say, that doing something horrible to the computer would be very cathartic. Does that not mean, healthful to mind and or body?

I'm not sure!

LOL .... ain't that what I said ... a girl thing???

The last time I bought a computer, I bought the whole kit and caboodle back from the store, set it all up, and got on with using it. Ever since then, what ain't been broke ain't got fixed.

On holiday last week I was walking in brand new trainers. "Shouldn't use them till you've worn them in" said my wife. "But this WILL wear them in" said I. Hours later "aren't your feet sore?" asked my wife. "Nope ... they're great" said I. "How come you can go out in brand new shoes without your feet hurting" asked my wife. "Because I tried them on in the shop before I bought them" said me. Thump!!!! replied my wife.

As I said ... it's a girl thing.

Exactly, built by a man, designed by men, configured by men sheesh!

Just yesterday, my husband who is going out of town for business, asked me!

"I'm was going to start packing my suitcase, but it's locked and I can't find the key." "Did you look in the zipper part?" I asked. "No, I didn't think of that!" he said.

I rolled my eyes and he walked away. Came back in a bit I asked, "well did you find the key?" "Yes". "Where", I asked. "In the zipper compartment", he replied.

I asked him, "Don't you ever get tired of having to ask me those types of questions and finding out that I'm more often then not right?". "Yes", he replied. I asked him, "Wouldn't you much rather think before you ask me, find something on your own and not have to listen to me gloat and complain about you asking me?" "Yes", he said as he shrugged his shoulder and looked sheepish. "But", he said, ...........well you get the picture and it's frustrating enough to live with it let alone re-live it here.

you have to plug in the usb stick portion into a usb port for the wireless mouses to work!
