Default Hits recording twice

I think that my stats may be inflated, because it seems that each one is recording twice--from the same source, at exactly the same time, or within a second or two of each other.

I'd be interested in knowing whether this is a bug. If it's not, could someone explain why hits would be recorded this way?

Thanks.

Hi

Most likely you have the code installed twice.

Do a "view source" in your browser to see how many instances of the code you have.

It happens often.

Could be also if there is a refresh of the page.

Thanks for the tips. I'm kind of a techno-rookie, so can you help me with the "view source" idea? What exactly do I do?

And this is a very recent phenomenon...it started at a point when I haven't played around with the code at all.

But I'd like to try your suggestion.

To view the source, view your page in a browser. Then right click on the page, then select "View source".

You want to search the source code for "Statcounter". You can do this from the "Edit" menu, use "find".

You are looking to see if the code is in the source code only once.

Thanks for the suggestions. The dual code installation was exactly the problem.
