Very abruptly, around noon today, Statcounter stopped recording the URLs of pages visited for my project. I haven't changed or done anything to my code. Visits are still recorded, but the Entry Page and Exit Page are now blank, and when I magnify the user, no page URLs are shown. It shows the date and time of each page load, but under the "webpage" column it only shows the referring page, not the actual page URLs. (My project happens to be on LiveJournal so it just says "no referring page" as usual.)
I can see the change happen within the same user - when I magnify, the page URLs are shown up until noon and then they stop being shown around 12:13 pm. Every subsequent user shows the same thing - no page URLs. Any idea why this would suddenly happen with no change at my end? |

Check the Statcounter code you used. if it has no javascript portion there will be no urls logged.
Livejournal did not use to allow javascript. It seems to have allowed it for a short while and probably it has reverted back to not allowing it now.

I have been using the html code for more than a year and it had previously shown the visited url but not the referring url. A couple of days ago the visited url stopped showing up. I couldn't find any notification about a change but the instructions for html code setup have changed:

I've also been having similar problems with the visited URL's no longer being displayed.
I noticed in this thread that Webado mentioned that unless the Javascript code is used that no URL's are tracked, however, I've been using the "HTML Code" since I joined StatCounter over a year ago and the visited URL's were being displayed, until around 0830 PST-US two days ago. My blog is on the WordPress.com servers so I have been using the non-Javascript "HTML code" to track visitors. Have been using the same code since joining StatCounter over a year ago. I did check the code to see if it may have become corrupt. It is still intact. I even "re-installed" the code to make sure. Nothing. Although Wordpress.com doesn't allow it, I did check the StatCounted javascript code for my project and found that I was on sc partition 33. Could it be a problem that StatCounter partition? |

Have been using StatCounter for a little over a year now...
I have a WordPress.com account, and installed the "HTML code" because Wordpress doesn't allow the Javascript code. A couple of days ago, when I've logged in to check my stats, StatCounter is no longer displaying the visited URL's - although it had been doing so previously. I checked the HTML code on my site and it is still intact. I have even tried re-installed the code, but nothing.... Have done some checking and found that my Stat Counter project is on partition 33... Also, I did some additional checking and noticed that several other people are experiencing similar problems. I'm assuming that they, also, have been using the HTML code on their site to track their hits. I'm just wondering if, this may be a problem with SC partition 33? Seems strange that the visited URL's have been being displayed all this time and now suddenly no longer being shown... |

In recent versions of Statcounter, the noscript or the html-only code are capable to track the url of the page being visited as long as the visitor has not disabled referrers. That's because with the noscript or html-only code, the referrer is the page where the tracking image is present - so it represents the page visited.
But if the visitor disables the referrer information in their browser then there will be nothing at all. It's possible I suppose that other changes may have removed this feature again. I am not aware of any change meant to revert back to what it used to be, but then I'm not informed of these things and I've not noticed it myself. But I don't generally use the html-only version, so I wouldn't notice it. With the noscript portion of the code most visitors I get logged that way are robots from which you don't get referrer information in any case. I will do some tests to see what's going on and report again.

Indeed, for some projects thsi is happening.
The one where I noticed it is on partition 24, server c25. It is not an SC4 counter, as it is quite old. No url for the page visited when using the html-only counter. I would guess that on some servers the version of the php image tracking script has reverted to the older one. I don't see the same problem with SC4 code (partition 55). I do see it for various non-SC4 trackers I am testing, on several partitions, maybe all of them come to think of it. At least all I'm testing.

This has been reported to the Statcounter team.
Bummer, I always seem to do this late at night for me which is early morning hours in Ireland for Webmaster.
