Unhappy Statcounter stopped reccording visits

Statcounter stopped recording visits after I changed the security code. I pasted the new security code onto each page, but still it doesn't record any visits. This is strange since we were getting 100-400 visits a day. Any ideas on how to remedy that?

Thanks. oricbryan

Did you view the page source in your browser to confirm that the code is still there, and intact?

Unhappy Statcounter still not recording visits

Yes, I checked the Page Source on each page and the code appears to be intact. All I changed on the Statcounter line was the 8 character security code. I left everything else intact.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should do next?

Now I'm not real good at code, but the parts of the line of code below in red should not be there. Their may be other bits that are wrong, but I suggest that you carefully compare your page source to the original code.

This corrupted code happens when you copy from the browser and paste directly into your editor or widget. You should first past into Notepad, then copy from there and paste.

Remove the existing code and reinstall and check the page source in your browser after.

No, that red code should be there.

It is however the old format. If you generate the code again you will be given a new format where there are no more query strings.

Are you suggesting that I delete the current Statcounter Code on each page and then go through the process of installing new code as I did when I first opened a statcounter account.

And if I do this what will become of the previous statistics? Will they still be there or will installing new code wipe them out?

Thanks. Bryan

You can generate new code for your project, it does not affect your stats, you will no loss anything. Just don't delete the PROJECT!
