I am using an application called Xenu to track broken links on my site successdegrees.com.
My report shows this a ton of times: http://www.successdegrees.com/entryl...rsingjobs.html http://c.statcounter.com/4505524/0/28554ced/1/ \_____ error code: 12029 (no connection) The url on top changes for each page on the site. Everything seems to be working, but I'm wondering if these are appearing as bad links to google and hurting my page rank - which plunged from 3 to 0 a few months ago (still get lots of traffic). Any ideas on how this can be fixed, or whether or not it really does need to be fixed? Thanks! |

Google wouldn't worry of outgoing links you have go to dead urls from other site. Your site doesn't get penalized for that.
In any case that link is to an image - even less of an issue as far as Google or any other search engine robot is concerned. So no, it won't have anyhtign to do with whatever drop in ranking you see in Google. From times immemorial peiople have felt thet Google is not ranking their sites as highly as they should be ranked, or they have dropped from thwat they we last week, month or year and shouldn't have. You have to look at site structure and site content. By site content of course we mean it has to be original, unique and compelling. Anything less, and Google won't be very interested.
