Question FTP program no longer being used?

When getting the new computer system, I lost my FTP program. Recently I was informed that FTP is an outdated program and no longer in use. Is this correct information? I know it's an old program, but it was an easy way to transfer files between my computer and my website. I ignored a lot of technical changes and information the past couple of years, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm just coming out of the Flintstones era. I keep hearing of programs or hardware that is no longer being used and wasn't aware of it because I wasn't paying attention! What is being used for a quick way to transfer a lot of files?

Hi Sandra

I use Cute FTP. It's free and it's easy.

EDIT: I'm wrong, it's Core FTP Lite.

Well forget that question! I finally found the program on Internet and downloaded it.

Richard,
I looked at the link and all it showed me was a Cute-FTP program that was free to try for 30 days, then you had to pay. Maybe I missed the free link?

The program I finally downloaded is Classic FTP. I got the free program. Thanks for the information though!

Well so much for my powers of observation LOL

The one I use, I've used for years. I'll check again if you are interested.

No experience with Classic.

Don't laugh!

It's called Core FTP Lite. You can set it to log in to several servers, each with it's own user & password. So it's great if you manage several sites.

I now remember I started out with Cute and found myself in the same position as you.

If you hadn't told me not to laugh I might not have, but just because I was told not to, I couldn't help myself.

I can see how you can get "Core" and "Cute" confused. Next week we'll work on the letter "D" and see what you can do with it!

You know, taken out of context, I could really be offended by this sentence! I am still cute to some people!!

OMG

If somebody was to read just that statement it surely could be taken out of context. Good thing we're friends of sorts.

I'm sure are much cuter than I
