Is there likely to have been an error, with so many different visitors involved? If other people are experiencing the same thing, that would mean there are a lot of errors! I must admit though that I know very little about these things.....
If I was to submit details, what exactly would you need from me? |

Yes, so there's got to be a bug somewhere
I can understand fake hits. We've seen them, they are relatively easy to program so you get a ton of hits which have never actually reached your server. Well at least ti used to be possibl, haven't check in a while if it's still the case, I cannot however understand totally topsy turvy geo-lookup results. Best I can tell is that after spot-checking a few of the IPs in whois.domaintools.com I see they are all from the UK, but there's no actual city locaiotn associated with them. So the Covent Garden bit may be some sort of left-over default value for something that's not available. Is the error is Statcounter's copy of the geo-database and the associated look-up function? Or is it a third party lookup so it's the db provider's bug?

In my log I have 126 hits from the UK and of those 18 are from Covent Garden.
I'm not even sure there's a single legitimate Covent Garden one in there LOL

I have the same issue, with several different IP addresses apparently originating from Covent Garden, Westminster. These visits are clearly people rather than bots, and it seems that most, but not all, London based visits are now appearing to be coming from this area. This includes returning visitors over a few days. Can't be sure when this started, but I think March/early April is about right.

I suspect that most of my Covent Garden visitors don't even come from London, as they visit pages which are unlikely to be of interest to anbody who is not from the local Brighton and Hove area!
