You can block them from showing up in your stats fairly easily. Do they always have the exact same IP or does it change over time?

I have a similar issue.. i have a page on my site that is getting hit 100 of times a day if not 1000s and i can't for the life of me figure out why. All hits are coming from the same referral which is an address in India. There is no way to contact the owners of the website through their website as i've tried.
I'm guessing they must be getting something out of it but what i don't know

It always says the same thing "no referring link." I can't figure it out either but I wish I could block them.

I've been having a similar issue with Ubiquity Server Solutions Atlanta who are hitting my home page from a block of ip's ranging from 174.34.147.84 - 174.34.147.93
I checked my server logs to see if I could figure anything out, but did not help. It did seem related to my playing around with nibbler, so I did a test and it is them crawling my home page. So, you can easily block them from your stat's as Rory_A has stated, Or take it a step further and block them entirely from your site with .htaccess which can be tricky.

Looks like in addition to Ubiquity Server Solutions Atlanta hitting the page when I do the nibbler test, Amazon dot com also is hitting the site two times immediatly prior to the Atlanta hit, but not listing a page. Hmmmmmm

Yes, they always use the exact same isp address. Any tips, or code, on how I can try to block them from our site?
Also...we are looking for a programmer to add something really neat to our website...we are a real estate and auction company and we would like to offer on-line bidding for our real estate properties to our site. I have designed a pdf of something similar to what I would like the new add-on page to look like, which is self-descriptive of the links and programming that it would require. If any of you are interested, please let me know. Thanks! P.S. This is html code. I use PageBreeze Pro. |

I know nothing about the technicalities but surely it is easy to block certain addresses (or blocks of addresses) from your website. I am sure we block some Russian spammers on Shareworld!
