Differences between counter and web host stats

I'm using Hostgator as my web host. I check my website, refresh the site, and go into my site's cpanel to update the views. When I compare the two nmbers, I notice there seems to always be a difference of about 70 and the Stat Counter on the web site always seams to be less.

Why is this?
