Hi all,

What is your most favorite car that you have ever owned. Not wanted to or driven?

Mine, well it was this

A Citroen Ami - So ugly it would not be stolen. If I remember rightly it had a 2 cylinder 600 flat engine (The same as the old BMW bikes.)
My other half hated it but to me it was great.

It has even made it here:

It was basic. My cooker has more functions (and a better acceleration and top speed).

At the moment I have a baby merc (A Class) which is fine but I would love another ami but this time with a floor I couldn't see through.

Whats yours?

Hmmm.. my first car was an old pretty beat up Renault 16, standard shift, the clutch so worn, it was almost automatic ;) Of course I am nostalgic for that  Never been able to drive a standard shift car since then, at least not one where the clutch actually works

My heart still aches for my Toyota Previa van I once owned for about 18 months starting in May 1991. It got stolen just before Christmas of 1992. Damn! It seems since then my cars have gotten progressively smaller, more expensive and with less features than that van, plus higher gas consumption (unbelievable but true - that was a fantastically economical and efficient van, a great design, just 4 well tuned cylinders).

I guess it would be my first Corvette. But then, I had a van in the 70's that was a lot of fun and right after that a nice 4-wheel drive pickup truck that I really liked.

The car I really loved to drive wasn't even my car. It belonged to one of my friends. We used to take it to rallys and road races in the 60's. It was an MG TD. What a great little car. I would really love to have one today for Sunday drives.

Your favorite car is not unnecessarily your best car!

My first car was my favorite. Maybe it was because it was my first,... independence, new adventure, etc.

A 1959 VW Beetle, $35, and a few nights work to get it running. I put 24,000 miles (38000 km) on it in just 1 year. The last day day I owned it, I drove it to the dump, and walked away with just the plates in my hands.

I'll never forget my first.

Always a classic. Basic but functional. (Flat four engine - porsche like some would say) Created around the war time and, I think, still being produced in Mexico, or the like. I don't like the new ones BTW. Volkswagen = Peoples car so not wrong there.

My first car was a 1.1 Ford Fiesta Mk1 and I loved it. I always said I would run it into the ground but it just kept going. Eventually sold it to some immigrants.

Hi CT,

No. Favorite not current.

Gavin. Nice car (Top Gear excepted).

I had a Alfa GTV 3Ltr. Nice car. Fast. The lights meant you couldn't see where you were going. Poo tan leather seats. £800 ($1600) for a major service.

Now that is a proper car.
Indeed. I owned it when I was in high-school and college in Montana where there weren't any speed limits at the time. The little engine in that thing just might have saved my life.

But I was proud to have once beaten a brand-new Corvette with my little 10-year old car on a 60 mile stretch of pre-Interstate highway. The 'vette would race past me every time the winding mountain and canyon road settled into a straight stretch, but I didn't have to slow down like he did when the road took on its hairpin curves. I'd pass him each time. heh.

(And, yes, it helped that the 'vette had some kind of flatland out-of-state plates and I knew the highway well from frequent trips.)

Oh how I wish I had enough money for all the cars I would love to own! My first car was a Fiat Panda!! My Step-Father was having a laugh that day! It lasted 6 days! I then went onto a Ford Escort Mk II - Oh I loved that car :). I now drive a Vauxhall Zafira (05 so not the new one) and a Jaguar X-Type SE, lovely car although not as reliable as you might expect Jaguar to be :(. Probably should have gone for a "proper" Jag and not a Ford Mondeo replica (although i've owned Ford Mondeo's and there not bad either).

My fave car was the first new car I bought. I had 2 previous second hand bombs, but when I was 19 I bought a brang new Toyota Celica Sports Coupe with Sunroof!

Wow, what a car. And lasted about 7 years.

2nd favourite car was a company car, again new, when the first of the V6 fuel injected 3.6 litre engines came out... faster than a V8. Fantastic!

The 3rd favorite, but the best car or the lot and still going like a dream since new is a Mitsubishi Magna 3 litre V6. Beautiful tight 5 speed geerbox, great acceleration. I do a fair bit of country driving and I hate being on the wrong side of the road for too long when overtaking... this car goes from 110kmph to 150kmph in a jiffy.

Hi Mark what is a "kmph"? Celica's are good, rear wheel drive, at least the old ones were. Never owned a Mitsubishi.

Most fun to drive

1973 Barracuda with pistol grip shifter the car was fitted with a 1968 426 Hemi motor instead of its normal 340. It was the most definately the most fun I have ever had in an empty parking lot. That car could smoke tires till they blew up if you wanted to. Pulled wheel stands in 3rd gear.
