Today, Feb 27 2014, it's been an hour that I just can't connect with StatCounter to see my projects. I end up having a message that "The connection has timed out".

Is there a actual problem?

Thanks

Snap. Down for me for over an hour and no message posted in 'Service Status'.

I appreciate that servers fall over and DNS can fail but not to alerting paying users to this downtime and what is being done to fix it is not good PR, SC...

:(

Bugger!, webmaster's reply crossed mine.

DDOS - all is forgiven. These are nasty and take time to fix. I will curb my impatience and let you get on with your job!

There still seems to be a problem connecting to SC this morning.
Access is very slow (up to 1 minute) as the following trace shows:

The bottleneck seems to be Cloudflare's reverse proxy server(s).
Given recent criticism of Cloudfare I do wonder why SC is using them??

Cloudflare was most definitely used as part of the DDoS mitigation, I saw several Cloudflare messages during the attack. After the attack, I still saw signs of server differences consistent with stronger protection, like blocking scripted HTTP requests. The implication is that the intention with Cloudflare is to be less vulnerable to attacks.

Unusually long load time of Statcounter code?

When visiting my site today, I find that the Statcounter code is taking longer than usual to load. Using http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ I get a wait time of approx. 0.3 seconds and a similar load time, so a total of 0.6 seconds for the Statcounter code. I'm pretty sure it's usually faster since I don't normally notice the "Connecting to c.statcounter.com" message in the bottom left hand corner of Firefox. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Down in the Netherlands

Still no connection from the Netherlands... and according to some tweets from NL I'm not alone...
Connecting possible (through FF) but login fails.
(The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading)
Chrome and IE no connection at all.
trace works

The site is loading for us - are you still having trouble connecting?

What's your location?
I haven't had trouble connecting to the Statcounter statistics site, but as mentioned in post #10, I was experiencing slow load times for Statcounter on my site. However, I am only experiencing this for one of my sites which is in the process of a host transfer and so I cannot be sure that the issue is not related to that. I have had to temporarily disable Statcounter on this particulr site, but I will enable it again when the host transfer is over and if I experience the slow load time again. Sorry for being too quick to post here.

Yeah, great !
Tried Chrome again and got my projects at once !
And my sites are loading the stats (in stead of waiting....)

I still can not connect to statcounter.com. It is a weird problem. I can connect fine on my iPhone (with the same WiFi connection. However, not on my desktop (Win 7) and laptop (Win 8). I tried all browsers FF, IE, Chrome. I tried clearing cookies. I tried to VPN to different locations. I can not connect! I keep getting a CloudFlare 520 error message. I can access forum.statcounter.com and api.statcounter.com.

Any ideas?

Since it works on your iPhone, it is most likely a local issue on your end. One possible cause (since you've tried different browsers and clearing cookies) could be that some type of paranoia software, like a firewall/adblocker program, is messing up the communication. I've seen signs of the change to use CloudFlare being more likely to balk at unusual traffic patterns, like HTTP headers.

I personally have many sites with CloudFlare and they load fine. I have also disabled my firewall/antivirus on both computers (both different.. Eset and Comodo). When I clear cookies, the frontpage loads, but when I try to log in I get the 502 error.
